Captain Kevin announces changes at the end of Federal Red Snapper season 2022 for KCSportfishing

In 1983, I started a career that would completely change my life as an Air Traffic Controller, and for 30 years I worked in a field known to be one of the most stressful jobs in the world.

In 2011, I started KC Sportfishing as a Facebook page which in 2014 changed into a full-fledged, successful fishing charter business.

Well, it is time for another change.

At the end of the 2022 Federal Red Snapper season on August 19th , I am closing the charter portion of our business and our 32-foot World Cat vessel will be for sale.

I cannot say thank you enough to everyone who has supported us, referred people to us, and been on trips with us.

Technically I am not retiring, just refocusing.

Why the change?

Fishing has long been my passion, my way of relaxing and reenergizing but, I no longer get those opportunities to do it myself except on special occasions. I love teaching people about fishing, and this change will give me more of those opportunities. My family and my closest friends have felt the impact of my full schedule as I transitioned from a 24/7/365 air traffic career into another 7 day per career. So, this is a change for my health, relationships, and general wellbeing, things I think we all were reminded to refocus on these past few years.

What’s is next?

I will be offering private guided fishing trips on your boat (inshore and offshore), available to run private boats, and I will continue to work with all the wonderful companies we have partnered with. I will continue to write and record fishing reports and the FISH ON! podcast. Our website will shift to be more informative about products, reports, reviews, fishing reports for the upcoming weekends at Mexico Beach and Port St. Joe, and local events.

Again, I thank each of you from the bottom of my heart. You will still see me on the water and around the docks. I will definitely be available for those guided trips and just to go fishing if you need another rod handler with a little experience ;-) You can continue to reach me on social media or at kcsportfishing.com anytime.
